Tumbleweed Tiny Houses

Since 1997, Jay Shafer has been designing ‘Tiny Houses’ [appropriately!], since these homes range from 65- 837 sq feet. He has intended these structures to limit one’s environmental impact as well as simply making life a million times easier [less cleaning!]. Additionally, Tiny Houses are often mobile, which is a huge plus – simply attach to a trailer and move! The houses pre-made cost around $40-50,000 [ouch!] but the plans to build the homes are only $695.

For me, this is the ultimate housing choice because it’ll just be me and my dog when I grow up – I won’t need the space a regular house provides but I don’t want to pay forever on an apartment. Also, as a child I always used to design homes for myself in minuscule buildings, so this is like my childhood dream :] This is the house I want.

Much love,
Hannah.

  1. I’ve seen houses similar when I had the Green Network on my telly. They did a segment on these sort of homes during one of the shows. I would love to have one (I’d probably go with the Z Glass model) but only if my intent on having a wife/life-partner and children doesn’t happen immediately following my completion of college. ;)

I do love the idea, though.
